Golden Matrix Group, a prominent developer and licensor of online gaming platforms and content, has announced the acquisition of a sports betting and iGaming license in Peru.
This significant license was awarded to Meridian Gaming Peru S.A.C., a subsidiary of the Meridianbet Group. Meridianbet is a well-regarded B2B and B2C sports betting and iGaming provider, licensed to operate in various international markets. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (MINCETUR) issued the license under number 3321-2024-MINCETUR/VMT/DGJCMT.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this development, Zoran Milosevic, CEO of Meridianbet, stated, “We are thrilled to enter the Peruvian market, a region poised for massive growth and unprecedented expansion in the coming years. This market entry presents an exciting opportunity to further grow our user base and deliver additional value to shareholders, underscoring our ongoing commitment to developing industry-leading brands globally.”
According to ENV Media, the online sports betting and iGaming market in Peru is valued at approximately USD $1.2 billion. It is forecasted to grow at an annual rate of 6.4% until at least 2028. Projections indicate that market penetration will reach 750,000 players by 2028, which equates to just over 20% of the adult population, showcasing the substantial growth potential in the region.
Golden Matrix CEO Brian Goodman highlighted that this new license in Peru complements the recent acquisition of a sports betting license in South Africa, obtained just eight days prior. “With the addition of Peru, Golden Matrix is well-positioned to capitalize on the rapidly growing online gaming sector in Latin America, delivering exceptional value and growth prospects for investors.”
