Google Allows Casinos but Bans PPC Advertisement from Swedish Affiliates

Last week we revealed that the former Swedish government monopoly operator Svenska Spel was ceasing online advertising in 2019. This week it’s the turn of the affiliates, as Google is pressured into banning all PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising from non-registered gambling companies.

That basically puts everyone but casinos themselves out of the running for PPC advertising to iGaming customers in Sweden. It seems the Swedish government, despite only creating a regulated market for it last year, is already cracking down with tight regulation on online gambling.

Still, it will be nice for casinos to be able to expand their advertising methods slightly. Even if they will be without the backing of affiliates in this official space.
