10 Top-Tier Live Casino Apps Tested on Android – Here Are The Results

Posted on June 25, 2018 | 8:20 am
live casino app

More and more people now choose to gamble on their smartphone, tablet or other mobile device – so it’s vitally important for online casinos to provide a solid app or mobile site. Live casinos especially are more difficult to optimize for mobile play.

Developers need to strike a balance between flashy features, and accessible functionality for players on older or budget devices. But when it is done right, the results can be spectacular!

Read on to find out how some of the top live casino sites rank up against each other in this arena, as we expertly review their mobile offerings.

Note: We tested all these mobile apps and sites from the UK – so some of the casinos mentioned may not provide a dedicated app, or be available at all, in your country. We also used an Android-powered mobile phone so iOS users might have a different playing experience.

#1. Leo Vegas Live Casino App

Overall: 4.8/5

  • Mobile focused site
  • 80+ live games on mobile
  • Ultra smooth and streamlined user interface
Visit Leo Vegas Live Casino - Click Here >>

Our Thoughts

Leo Vegas styles itself as a mobile focused casino. So, as you’d expect – their mobile offering is one of the best on the market. Their application is available for iOS and Android, requiring operating versions 8.0+ and 4.0+ respectively – but the Leo Vegas mobile site will still work on older models. You can certainly tell the Leo mobile site has had a lot of effort put into it. Just the sheer range of games alone, with 80+ live dealer tables at the time of review, is evidence of this.

Many casinos lack the depth of games on their mobile applications – not Leo Vegas. All of their Evolution live dealer tables are present and correct, including the 1 on 1 Chambre Separee, the spinning wheel game Dream Catcher and new Live Lightning Roulette. Also available are quite a few tables from NetEnt and Extreme Live Gaming.

Browsing the collection, finding your old favourites or discovering a new game to play – all simple and easy, with the Leo Vegas mobile site’s well-crafted layout. Your recently played games, the most popular titles and new tables are just a few of the sorting options available. The custom search function is also a breeze to use, and all the menus are designed for a smooth user experience on a smaller screen.

The games themselves run nicely, even on an older device. The live stream can be turned on and off when you wish, popping up over the top of the betting table and then minimising again. So if you’re phone or connection is experiencing issues – you can minimise the stream and wait until it improves, without having to leave the table. Speaking of improvements, the one thing we would suggest here is that a dedicated live casino app would be nice. Considering the effort, not to mention the impressive collection of tables, put into their mobile site – a dedicated live casino app surely is the next step.

Other than that – Leo Vegas has delivered a top tier mobile experience, which comfortably sits on top of the live casino pile as one of the best in the business.

#2. Mr.Green Live Casino App

mr green logo

Overall: 4.2/5

  • Mr Green Beyond Live Experience
  • Apps for Android & iOS
  • 80-plus tables on the mobile site
Get Mr.Green Mobile App - Click Here >

Our Thoughts

Mr Green combines their sportsbook and casino into one app, available for Android and iOS. The Green gentleman has made quite a reputation for himself as a top tier mobile operator, and this definitely rang true to us during our review.

With 30 live casino tables, provided by Evolution Gaming and Netent, Mr Green’s Android app started out with a solid base of titles. The application is smooth and responsive, with an easy to navigate menu system and a nice search function. All the games were displayed as preview tiles, in rows of two that can be scrolled down to see all 30 games. These are split across:

  • 12 roulette tables
  • 9 blackjack
  • 4 baccarat tables
  • 4 poker tables

The Mr Green Beyond Live tables are a particular highlight, combining two roulette and two blackjack tables into one multi-table experience. Players can see the action going on at the other tables, and switch seats on the fly. The (animated) Mr Green himself patrols the room, occasionally dropping in on tables and offering smart quips or comments, as helicopters fly by outside across the city skyline. It truly is graphically quite impressive and we can see why this app requires Android operating system 6.0 or above.

The Mr Green mobile site however, had the full range of Mr Green’s live casino collection – covering 80-plus tables. These include roulette tables in various languages and a roulette live stream from the famous Dragonara Casino in Malta. However, during our review we found the mobile site was noticeably slower to load and not as smooth to navigate as the app. Of course, many people may be willing to sacrifice some bells and whistles for a bigger game collection – it’s all down to your preference.

#3. Unibet Live Casino App

Overall: 4/5

  • Almost all live casino games ported over
  • Dedicated live casino app for iOS
  • Easy to use filter functions
Get Unibet Live Casino App >>>

Our Thoughts

Unibet’s mobile casino is definitely one of the better mobile offerings we have reviewed. This Swedish company certainly put a lot of effort into making both their application and mobile site top tier. There is a dedicated live casino app for iOS players, but not for Android – which is a shame.

However, the game collection is not sacrificed on the Android app. With 40-plus Evolution Gaming blackjack tables alone, basically the entire Unibet Live Casino collection is present and correct here! The app is also easy to navigate, with a set of filter options on every page to help you find exactly the game you want. The Evolution lobby was also translated nicely to mobile, with roulette, blackjack, poker and baccarat tables all easily accessible from one convenient place.

With this many games, having a dedicated live casino app for Android players would be nice – hopefully this is something Unibet will look to add in the future. All the live dealer tables themselves however run seriously smoothly, just as you’d expect from Evolution. The betting information in each game is also displayed properly, without intruding on the live stream. In roulette, the live video feed can be hidden and revealed again with a swift tap – allowing you to spend time concentrating on your betting strategy.

All the live Casino games on Unibet’s mobile application come from Evolution, so although there are a lot of tables most of them run in a similar fashion. Still, when you have quality like this – who needs tonnes of variety?

The mobile site itself offered more of that anyway, with a smattering of live casino titles from NetEnt as well as Evolution. These tables took a different approach to displaying the betting table in roulette for example, with a sliding scale screen that could be scaled up and down to see more of the betting. However, this feature did not go well with slower or older model devices – unlike Evolution’s method.

So where it has more variety, the quality does dip a little. Unibet’s mobile site, far from being bad, is a lot slower in comparison to the app. It also lacks as many filter functions. So you should definitely download the app if you can!

#4. Casumo Live Casino App

casumo logo

Overall: 4/5

  • Almost identical mobile site and app
  • 50+ live casino tables available
  • Clean & simple design
Visit Casumo Live Now >>

Our Thoughts

Casumo is a newer casino on the market, but it’s clean and cutesy branding certainly helps it standout. This style extends to the Android and iOS mobile apps too, with a stripped back aesthetic that keeps both applications easy to navigate. The Android app had nearly all of Evolution’s 50-plus titles that are available on Casumo’s desktop site.

NetEnt fans might be a little disappointed however, with the app only offering three of the dozen or so titles Casumo players can choose from on desktop. These were:

  • 1 Blackjack table
  • Standard & Automatic Roulette

Still, 55 titles in all is not a bad collection for a mobile app and certainly beats a few others on this list. It was not, however, obvious on first glance that the Evolution titles lead to a lobby with further tables available, and that the NetEnt icons went directly to a table with no lobby. Considering how truly smooth the rest of the user experience on the Casumo app is – this definitely could have been clearer.

The games we did play worked well – as you’d expect from Evolution Gaming and NetEnt. The streams were good quality and ran without freezing or stuttering even on an older device. The only thing we could point out, gameplay wise, is that some NetEnt tables require players to play in landscape mode. Only a minor thing, but it could be a negative for some people.

Casumo’s mobile site looks and feels exactly like the Android app – which is great. The same responsive menu system and minimal design make navigating a breeze. However, finding the live casino section could definitely have been easier, as you can’t tap the title link above the section on the main page. Instead you have to search for live casino manually. Only a little grievance again, but they all add up! So overall then? A more than solid mobile offering from Casumo – with a few little hitches.

#5. William Hill Live Casino App

Overall: 3.8/5

  • Reputable long running company
  • Dedicated app for live casino players (but only on iOS)
  • No mobile special bonus
Get WH Live Casino App >>>

Our Thoughts

William Hill may have been operating since 1934, but its mobile live casino offering is bang up to date. While it might not quite match up to the dizzying collection of Leo Vegas, 34 live casino tables on mobile is nothing to be sniffed at. William Hill’s app is available for Android and iOS users – with a dedicated live casino app too, but only for users of Apple devices. The mobile website works fine off any mobile browser though, even when we tested it on an older smartphone model.

All 34 live casino tables in William Hill’s mobile collection are provided by Evolution Gaming. They cover blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker and Dream Catcher. The collection isn’t as smooth to navigate as Leo either, but it certainly isn’t confusing or difficult to find the game you want to play.

We did find that the William Hill homepage actually loaded faster than many of its competitors – however there was no floating navigation bar to load up. Another nice feature is the information bar above each game, which you can tap to have the stakes and other important facts about each game pop up. This was responsive and easy to tap on even a very small screen.

Being Evolution titles, all the games run smoothly and are efficiently optimized for small screen gameplay. However, only the iOS app actually allows access to the Evolution lobby. This runs as smoothly – if not more so – than on desktop.

This means the difference between the app and the mobile site at William Hill is quite pronounced, which is disappointing for Android users. Overall, a very good application and a decent mobile site – let down slightly by the amount of tables available and the lack of a live casino app for Android players.

#6. PartyCasino Live Dealer App

party casino logo

Overall: 3.7/5

  • Dedicated app for iOS and Android
  • 60-plus Evolution titles
  • Identical app and mobile site

Our Thoughts

PartyCasino’s mobile site is literally almost identical to the app – which is always good to see. The full range of 60-plus Evolution Gaming live casino titles is available on both platforms.

Whilst this equality between the two is good, this does mean that some older device owners may be able to access the mobile site on their device but find it too slow to run efficiently – or that games may not run at all. So users of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or below, should definitely bear that in mind.

Regardless, both the app and site are extremely well designed. The live casino section is easy to access using a scrolling sidebar menu, and everything moved smoothly and quickly. The search function worked well, and PartyCasino also collects your recently played and most played games into a scrolling bar on the home screen – which is great for repeat customers.

As you’d expect from an industry leading provider, all the Evolution Gaming tables run without glitching or crashing – and the lobby opens up quickly and responsively, even during live gameplay. While the collection is nothing exciting, 60-plus titles on a smartphone or tablet should be enough for even the most discerning of players.

However, upon installing the app it did also ask for permission to access our phone’s pictures and text messages. This was a bit suspect, but we declined the permission without a problem. Worth remembering if you plan on signing up here!

All in all, a decent, if unimaginative, mobile casino offering that doesn’t do anything spectacular but does everything well.

#7. Royal Panda Live Dealer App

royal panda logo

Overall: 3.5/5

  • Good game selection
  • No dedicated app
  • Website designed for tablets
Visit Royal Panda Live >>>

Our Thoughts

Royal Panda has a great selection of live dealer tables on its mobile site, with 60-plus Evolution Gaming titles available. However, they are let down by the lack of dedicated app for Android or iOS and some of the clunkier aspects of their website.

Firstly, no search function on the homepage means users have to scroll through a load of slots titles and classic table games to get to the live casino section. Hardly the most taxing problem in the world, but nonetheless an inconvenience that could be easily fixed. Some of the games are displayed in the popular titles section at the top of the page – but if the game you’re after isn’t there – tough luck. And if you want a specific table that isn’t the grid of 20 or so on the main page? You’ll have to open a table first and then head back out to the Evolution lobby.

So it looks good, with clean and simple branding that catches the eye – but Royal Panda could definitely do with ironing out some of the kinks of the mobile site. One thing is does having going for it, is the fact that the desktop site is optimised for tablet play. And you can actually tell this is true when you use it – everything slides across the screen seamlessly, and is just about the right scale for the medium sized screens of most tablets.

Once you do get into the games, they work about as well as you should expect from Evolution Gaming – which is very well.

#9. Grosvenor Live Casino App

grosvenor casino

Overall: 3/5

  • Well-known land based casino brand
  • Dedicated live casino app for iOS and Android.
  • Various game developers to try
Get Grosvenor Mobile App >>

Our Thoughts

Grosvenor is a top land based casino operator in the UK, running over 30 casinos throughout the British Isles. But how does their mobile offering fare? Our verdict is fairly good, but nothing hugely special.

Grosvenor have a dedicated live casino app for iOS and Android. The Android app requires a device that runs Version 6.0 or higher. We experienced some crashes and connectivity issues, and the app did not feel too different to their mobile site. Neither the site nor the app are as easy to navigate as some of Grosvenor’s competitors – but they’re not overly confusing. There is no search function on the mobile site, and only two categories in which games have been sorted. You can however, log in with your fingerprint for maximum security- if you have an iPhone 5s or higher.

When it came to the Grosvenor Live Casino app, there were 25 live casino tables available we looked. These consisted of:

  • 6 baccarat
  • 6 poker
  • 6 roulette
  • 6 blackjack

This selection was also a little disappointing, with only six blackjack tables available compared to the 20-plus on desktop.

The games were arranged in a convenient spinning wheel format, which was a unique feature. However, like the mobile app – there was no search function, which was a bit of a let-down. Although, 25 tables isn’t too many to search through. Mostly we felt that Grosvenor made a lot of stylistic choices, over convenience of operation. The revolving wheel showing the table bet limits underneath the game preview was nice to look at, but we would have preferred it if all the tables in each category were visible at once rather than having to scroll through all seven individually to get to the one you want to play.

#10. Guts Live Casino App

transparent guts logo

Overall: 3/5

  • No mobile app for either iOS or Android
  • Uniquely designed mobile site
  • 50-plus live casino titles
Visit Guts Live Casino >>

Our Thoughts

Guts Casino doesn’t have any dedicated apps for either iOS or Android devices, but its mobile site functions extremely well. Designed to look like the list of applications on your devices home screen, the casino selection is a joy to scroll through. Fully responsive, with a range of filtering options that includes live casino titles, Guts’ mobile site truly does look the part.

And with 54 live casino tables, at the time of writing, it plays pretty well too. This unique mobile casino format also means Guts (or at least the lobby) will run smoothly on almost any device. With little to no aesthetic frills – the Guts mobile site is truly one of the better designed mobile casino sites we have found. But then, without an application to speak off, we’d hope it would be!

The live casino games here are all ran off Guts’ proprietary iGaming Cloud platform and are all developed by NetEnt. Unfortunately, despite all the great design of the site itself, this is where Guts let us down. The simple truth is, many of these games just didn’t work on mobile for us. We tried them on multiple devices, on several different connections – and still only got a blank black screen when we tried to launch them.

An online casino lives and dies by its gameplay on a most basic level, so not being able to play some of the games at all on mobile – even when they are advertised as available – is seriously disappointing. The live games we did manage to play were great however, and mostly ran as smoothly as titles from Evolution. However, as we mentioned with NetEnt before – it seems Evolution’s games are more reliable for people with older or slower devices. Something to keep in mind!
