Play Alberta, the state-owned online gambling operator in the Canadian province, has finally made the step towards the future by offering online lottery ticket sales both for national and local draws.
The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission is the government body behind Play Alberta and also the gambling regulator in the province. Among the games that will now be available online the players will find favourites like Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Daily Grand and Western Max.
Kandice Machado, the acting president and chief executive officer of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission said that the government agency was looking to create more convenience for the customers through this move, expecting increased revenue as a result.
The online lottery sales will also be under the umbrella of GameSense, the responsible gambling program within the Play Alberta website. The platform currently includes loss, bet and daily session limits.
This step forward comes seven months after the launch of the PlayAlberta.ca website, which was developed in cooperation with NeoPollard. This is the first legal online casino in the province and it offers a wide range of video slots and table games.
