Evolution, the world’s most successful supplier of live dealer games for both online and land-based casinos, has announced that its huge portfolio has gone live on the very first day of the newly-launched online gaming market in Ontario.
The Canadian province of Ontario officially launched its legal and regulated online gambling market on April 4, after almost three years of work from the provincial government. The process started in April 2019, when the government of the province first announced its plans to end the monopoly on iGaming that was held by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
In November 2020 legislation was introduced and then passed in 2021. iGaming Ontario was set up as a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and was put in charge of overseeing the competitive market.
In September 2021, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario published its regulatory standards for sports betting, including integrity rules and advertising standards. Operators and suppliers had to receive licenses from iGaming Ontario, and several big brands from all around the world applied.
