Aristocrat Leisure Limited, the Australian developer of casino slot machines and digital games, has reported a normalized net profit after tax of 412 million dollars in the first half of 2020-2021 fiscal year, up 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The company’s good performance was aided by a strong rise in revenue from digital games. The Sydney-based company recorded revenue of 2.23 billion Australian dollars in the first half of the fiscal year, down just 1% compared to 2019-2020, when there was no coronavirus pandemic affecting the business.
Aristocrat’s revenue from digital games went up by a healthy 14.3 percent compared to the previous year, rising to 1.19 billion dollars. In fact, this growth pushed the Australian company into the top five mobile games publishers in Western markets, according to App Annie, a data analytics provider that focuses on mobile apps.
Moreover, Aristocrat had seven games into the top 100 in the United States during this period. However, their overall revenue in the Americas was down 11.1% to 810.2 million Australian dollars. The results in Australia and New Zealand were a bit better, with revenue going up 1.7% to 209.1 million dollars.
